Have you watched a NHK TV program called ” 猫のしっぽ　カエルの手 ” ?

番組に出演されていたherbalist の Venetia Stanley Smith さんが 先月6月に亡くなられました

Venetiaさんの京都大原での暮らしはなんだか時間がゆっくりと流れていて、あんな風に季節を感じながら、丁寧に暮らすことはステキだなぁと思って番組をみていまし

Venetiaさんの語り方もとても心地良くステキな言葉がたくさん語られていました

エッセイ集の中でいいなぁと思ったものがありました

冬のエッセイで “Embroidery 刺繍”という題です

途中からですが

“Embroidery, one of the oldest art forms, is a gentle hobby that can make cloth and our hands more beautiful.

The silk and cotton threads we use tie us to each other.

Amazingly, embroidery stitches in different parts of the world evolved at the same time in history.

Each one of us is born into a different culture, but we are all experiencing the same things : it is hot, it is cold, I am hungry and I am tired.

If we could look at the similarities, not the differences, we will come to see that each person deep down in their heart is the same.”

違いではなく、似ているところ、同じところに目を向ける

みんなも講師の先生との出会いも含め、これからもしかしたら色んな国の人と出会ったり色んな国を訪れたり…

そんな時、こんな風に感じて人や文化と出会っていけらたステキですね
